Halo And Metal Gear Solid 5’s Servers To Be Shut Down
Know that from December 2021 onwards Halo’s game services won’t work any longer. This means that you won’t be able to play it on your Xbox one 360. However, you will still be able to play the game on other newer consoles.
These are the Xbox 360 Halo versions that will stop working- Halo 3, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo Spartan Assault, Halo: Reach, Halo Wars, Halo 4, and Halo 3: ODST.
However, note that all the non-online features and aspects of the game should work. But, do know that since Halo is the biggest draw of Xbox 360 so it looks like the console will be effectively killed off finally when these Halo services become obsolete.
Also, making matters worse is the fact that game servers of Metal Gear Solid 5 are going offline as well. On May 31, 2022, the servers will be shut down forever. As such, this might mark the death of the Xbox 360. However, do note that nothing regarding server shutdowns have been announced for other games on the platform.
Now, server shutdowns are not uncommon. The main reason behind them is the constantly dwindling gamer base. However, the shutdown of Halo and MetalGearSolid5’s servers might spell doom for Xbox 360 because these two games are the biggest draws of the console.
But do you want to keep on playing these two games? Then there might be a solution. Sometimes players band together among themselves and campaign to keep the servers running as well.
Now, whether that will happen for these two games or not, that remains to be seen. But for now, you have till December 2021 to play Halo and May 2022 to play Metal Gear Solid 5. “Xbox 360 servers shutting down”
